Indonesia to Donate US One Million Dollar to Australia Bush Fire

This was the news written in Kompas few days ago. The news paper said that Indonesian President will sent forensic expert and donate one million US dollars to help the victim of Australian bush fire in Ben Digo, Victoria state. It is also said that two Indonesian may be in danger.

Actually, I have nothing against all that, we should always help our neighbor, especially those in needs. However, I was just stunned by the value of funds donated, one million US dollars, that's equal to twelve billion IDR...

Australia is not a poor country and we are not a rich country ourselves. Australian Parliament is not exactly fond of Asian as well. Pauline Hanson, in 1997 formed One Nation party and won almost 23% vote in Queensland Parliament. Her view was that Asians and Aborigin (indigenous Australian) living in Australia should not be treated the same with them. While Australian government and press were busy condemning the accused human rights violation in Timor Timur, they hypocrite-ly ignored what they did to Aborigins, the true owner of Australian land.

We have several natural disasters all over Indonesia that needs help, flood in Central and East Java, earthquake in Talaud, Lapindo is not over yet, people are screaming for the compensations which not yet paid in full. Even in Sabang, now we have hundreds of Rohingya refugees from Burma, and the local NGO and government already run out of moneys to support them.

I just really hope that this one million US dollars donation is worth.
